Police have submitted investigation papers concerning the display of an Israeli flag at a programme in Kelantan to the state prosecutor’s office.
Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat said the organiser of the “500 Pelayaran Solidariti Kelantan untuk Gaza” programme, held at Lembah Sireh, Kota Bharu, last Friday, was called in yesterday.
The organiser was questioned and was expected to be charged in court soon, he added.
“The case is being investigated under three laws - Section 3 of the National Emblems (Control of Display) Act 1949, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he told Bernama yesterday.
The incident involved a boat displaying several Israeli flags during a re-enactment of the interception of Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers during their voyage to Gaza.
The event, organised by Pertubuhan Anak Muda Bangkit Malaysia, saw nearly 10,000 participants riding in their own boats from Kampung Pulau Pisang to Lembah Sireh, covering an 8km route, as an act of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
