Temporary and phased traffic diversion for Asean summit from Oct 23

Temporary and phased traffic diversions will be carried out from Oct 23 in several main areas in conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit and related meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Oct 26-28.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Yusri Hassan Basri said a motorcade rehearsal would be conducted from the KLIA to hotels around the capital and to KLCC on Oct 23-24.

“Temporary traffic diversions will be implemented along major highways and roads connecting KLIA to the capital and areas surrounding KLCC.

“In addition, traffic police personnel will be fully assigned from Oct 25 to Oct 28, with the implementation of phased road closures and diversions carried out within a 1km radius of KLCC,” he said in a statement today.

He said the road diversions and traffic dispersal measures are necessary to ensure the smooth movement of delegates and the safety of all parties throughout the summit.

Yusri said detailed information regarding affected routes, specific road diversions, and the full traffic diversion schedule will be announced soon.

“The public is advised to fully cooperate with the authorities and support the government’s efforts to make the summit a success, thus elevating the country's stature on the international stage,” he said.
