The Sarawak premier nonetheless says the festivities is an opportunity to strengthen ties, forgive one another and appreciate the state’s cultural diversity.

“Nevertheless, my family and I wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin.
“May this Syawal bring happiness, strengthen unity and increase blessings in all our lives,” the Borneo Post quoted him as saying in his 2026 Hari Raya address.
Juma’ani passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 76.
She was the daughter of the second Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman.
Abang Johari and his wife have a son, Abang Abdillah Izzarim, 45, and a daughter, Dayang Norjihan, 43.
In his address, Abang Johari described Aidilfitri as an opportunity to strengthen ties, forgive one another and appreciate Sarawak’s cultural diversity.
The premier also conveyed apologies, on behalf of himself and the state leadership, for any shortcomings, and pledged continued commitment and integrity in ensuring the state’s development.
Abang Johari also emphasised on turning Sarawak into a high-income economy through technology, innovation, value-added activities and environmental sustainability. - FMT
