Albert obtains images of 'armed' MACC officers at his home, files report

Businessperson Albert Tei, who exposed the Sabah mining scandal, has filed a police report claiming he has obtained images purportedly showing armed MACC officers at his residence during his arrest last November.

Tei, who lodged the report at the Bandar Puteri police station in Puchong this afternoon, said the images were sent to him on March 9 via WhatsApp by an unidentified person using a Cambodian-registered mobile phone number.

“I asked several times who the sender was, how he obtained the two images, and whether he was an MACC officer, but I received no reply.

“I recognise and confirm that the location shown in the two images is the side yard of my house and my German Shepherd dog. In one of the images,” he added.

Following his arrest on Nov 28, 2025, Tei had claimed that balaclava-clad MACC officers pointed pistols at him, his wife, mother-in-law, and the family’s domestic helper. His wife later lodged a police report over the incident.

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki later denied that a firearm was pointed at Tei’s head during his arrest, and the commission lodged a police report against the “slander”.

Bodycam footage?

In his police report, Tei claimed that the images he received “confirmed” his allegation and that he suspects the pictures were captured from a video recording.

The businessperson believes the recording could have come from the body cameras worn by members of the raiding team.

“Therefore, I urge MACC to immediately reveal all video recordings from the body cameras of the officers who raided my house so that the truth and justice can be made known to the public, while allowing MACC to clear the reputation, dignity, and integrity of the enforcement agency.

“In addition, I would like to confirm that there are no CCTV cameras in my house that point towards the location shown in the images I received.

“The CCTV decoder in my house was seized by MACC during the raid, and until today, I do not know under what authority MACC seized the CCTV decoder, nor do I know where it is now.

“I have repeatedly urged MACC and the police to return the CCTV decoder immediately because the recordings in it would reveal all the facts and the truth.

“However, 105 days have passed, and MACC and the police are still unwilling to return the CCTV decoder, which has raised many suspicions,” he added.

Charged alongside PM’s ex-aide

Tei was arrested after his revelation on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin, whom the businessperson claimed he had spent RM629,000 on.

Shamsul had purportedly assured Tei that he could recoup the money channelled to politicians in Sabah.

Both Tei and Shamsul were subsequently charged. - Mkini
