BERSATU vice-president Ronald Kiandee suspended for six years

BERSATU Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee has been suspended from the party for two terms.

“Why merely suspend me? If I am truly guilty, then just expel me. I organised the RESET programme and also attended a meeting with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and the Deputy Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) in Bangkok,” he said in a Facebook post today.

The Beluran MP said the decision taken against him only reinforced the perception that the party’s Disciplinary Board is now being used to shield the party president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and a small group surrounding the party’s top leadership.

“Furthermore, the board is chaired by an individual who has family ties with the party’s top leadership,” he pointed out.

According to his statement online, the party’s direction over the past two years has increasingly strayed, with actions appearing to focus on efforts to promote Muhyiddin as the “poster boy” and candidate for the 11th Prime Minister.

Anyone perceived as a potential obstacle to that agenda would be sidelined, with the Disciplinary Board allegedly serving as the main mechanism to carry out such actions.

“In the end, those who remain are only those who always say ‘yes’ to the president,” he said.

Ronald further alleged that the existence of a group he described as the “yes-to-the-president faction” within the party stems from several factors, including appointments made by the president, individuals who lost in party elections but were later given positions by the president, as well as promises of candidacy letters for elections.

He said this situation has led some party leaders to prioritise loyalty to the president above all else.

“I joined this party because I believed it was a platform for struggle, not a tool to fulfil individual political ambitions.

“But what we see today is far removed from that spirit. I will not appeal. Let it be assumed that the appeal period has already ended,” he said.

He said he would not be appealing the decision after the party’s Disciplinary Board suspended his membership for two terms, or six years.

In the notice, the party’s Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan said the action against Ronald was decided after the board met yesterday and resolved to suspend his membership rights under Clause 22.5.

Mohd Radzi said all positions held by Ronald have been revoked and he is not allowed to make any statements on behalf of the party until the suspension period ends.

“Ronald may submit an appeal to the Appeals Board for consideration within 14 days from the date of this notice,” he said. — Focus Malaysia
