CCM's deputy CEO pleads not guilty to receiving RM50k cash from Hamzah's son

Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) Registration and Business Services deputy CEO Khuzairi Yahaya has claimed trial to one count of receiving RM50,000 from former minister Hamzah Zainudin’s son.

He was charged this morning in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with allegedly receiving money from Faisal Hamzah in May 2018 at CCM’s headquarters in KL Sentral.

Khuzairi was accused of receiving the cash without providing anything in return, despite being aware that Faisal had official dealings with him as a public servant.

The accused, who turns 55 in July, pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 165 of the Penal Code before judge Suzanna Hussin today.

Section 165 carries a maximum of two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both.

The court then fixed RM15,000 bail on Khuzairi, as well as ordering him to surrender his passport to the court as an additional bail condition. The judge also fixed April 20 for case management.

RM20k false claim

Separately, secondary school teacher Shahnan Abdul Razak was charged before judge Rosli Ahmad for submitting false claims for a school’s sports equipment worth RM22,728 on May 26, 2020.

The claim was submitted to a school he was serving, in which, his charge was framed under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which carries maximum 20 years in jail, or amount of fine five times the value of the sum involved or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

He also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of using a false document as an invoice for the equipment purchase.

The alternative charge was framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum of two years in jail, or a fine, or both.

The judge fixed RM7,000 bail on Shahnan and seized his passport, as well as scheduled April 16 for case management. - Mkini
