Human resources minister R Ramanan says the government expects to roll out the initiative in the second quarter of this year.

Ramanan said the initiative, which has reached its final stage of study, will be tabled at the Cabinet soon for consideration, Bernama reported.
“This scheme involves about 400,000 workers commuting to Singapore. They currently do not have any protection, so if anything happens to them while at work or on the way (to work), who will take care of them and their families?
“They are Malaysians, and as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stated, no one will be left behind,” he told reporters after his ministry’s breaking-of-fast event today.
Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) group CEO Azman Aziz Mohammed said the agency would meet with stakeholders, including NGOs working with cross-border commuters, at the Malaysian high commission in Singapore on April 6 to discuss the initiative. - FMT
