KUALA LUMPUR: The lawyer representing Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid arrived at Bukit Aman today to be questioned over an alleged plot to topple the government.

Nizamuddin Hamid arrived at the federal police headquarters at 10.10am, dressed in a grey suit and accompanied by his lawyer, Datuk Khalid Yusoff.

He had earlier been instructed to present himself at Bukit Aman to assist in investigations into the alleged attempt to destabilise the government.

Nizamuddin is expected to hold a press conference outside Bukit Aman after the questioning session to address the allegations.

It was reported that he was among two lawyers named in a police report alleging a plot to bring down the government.

He has since denied the allegations.

Nizamuddin said both he and the other lawyer, Amir Zharif Abdullah, had never received any instructions from their client to bring down the government or undermine parliamentary democracy, nor had they discussed such a matter with her.

Earlier this month, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said police had been instructed to prioritise investigations into all complaints involving alleged attempts to overthrow the government and destabilise the country.

He said the directive was issued following a cabinet decision made during its meeting on Feb 27. - NST
