The department's director-general, Aedy Fadly Ramli says more than 439,000 vehicles have yet to comply.

JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said the department has been notified that only 74,552 out of 513,679 commercial vehicles have installed the devices as of yesterday, Bernama reported.
The remaining 439,127 vehicles that have yet to do so include goods vehicles weighing more than 3,500kg, and buses capable of carrying more than eight passengers with a maximum weight exceeding 5,000kg.
Aedy said JPJ had conducted a special enforcement operation from Oct 1, 2025, to March 12 this year to improve compliance.
“During that period, a total of 111,743 commercial vehicles were inspected, with 8,924 issued notices for investigation for offences related to compliance and the functionality of the SLDs,” he told a press conference in Shah Alam today.
“Among the reasons for the low compliance is that some companies have applied for a postponement of installation as they do not have access to local hardware and have to source for installations abroad,” he said. - FMT
