KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer representing Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid, the wife of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, has been called in for questioning by poliee over the alleged plot to bring down the government.
Nizamuddin Hamid will answer the call tomorrow, accompanied by his own lawyer, Datuk Khalid Yusoff.
An invitation sent out to the media said Nizamuddin would be at federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman at 10am.
"He (Nizamuddin) will hold a press conference outside Bukit Aman to address the allegations," the invitation read, though it did not state whether the press conference would be held before or after he is questioned.
It was previously reported that Nizamuddin was one of two lawyers mentioned in a police report alleging a plot to bring down the government.
He has since denied the allegations.
Nizamuddin had said both he and the other lawyer, Amir Zharif Abdullah, had never received any instructions from their client to bring down the government or undermine parliamentary diplomacy, nor discussed the matter with her.
Earlier this month, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had said police had been instructed to prioritise investigations into all complaints regarding alleged attempts to overthrow the government and destabilise the country.
He had said the cabinet had decided to issue the directive during its meeting on Feb 27. - NST
