IT may not be too far-fetched to assume that animosity between former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has reached a point of no return.
This follows the Human Resources Minister having shown sycophancy tendency by “opening his mouth” to paint a picture as if the ex-deputy PKR president has deceived the Madani government in the purported RM1.1 bil embezzlement scandal involving UK-based semiconductor design firm Arm Holdings plc (ARM).
“With confidence, he made a statement as if I gave a RM1.1 bil contract to my acquaintance,” lambasted the Pandan MP in a social media post.
“He thought ARM was a firm with a paid-up capital of RM2 selling satar ikan (spiced fish meat wrapped in banana leaves) from Kemaman owned by Anak Ramli & Menantu.”
“The second possibility is that he’s not very smart. He doesn’t even understand the global chip industry. He never knew ARM existed.”
This is when Rafizi snubbed Ramanan for having insinuated that he had allegedly deceived the government given he himself has a court record for fraud or scamming.
Recall that Ramanan was ordered by the High Court in 2014 to return RM5.5 mil to a mental health specialist Tan Sri Dr M Mahadevan.

‘You should be the one answerable’
According to The Sun Malaysia, Ramanan allegedly led Mahadevan into believing that he could help him obtain an outstanding payment of RM26.5 mil from the Defence Ministry – which eventually ended with Mahadevan claiming that Ramanan had deceived him into paying RM5.5 mil for that purpose
After the High Court ordered him to return the money to Dr Mahadevan, the late DAP lawmaker Karpal Singh had insisted that Ramanan who was then newly appointed MIC treasurer be charged with criminal fraud.
“After the 2014 court case, MIC no longer wanted Ramanan,” jibed Rafizi. “That’s why with the record he has outside PKR and his political practices within PKR, I have had many disagreements with (PKR president and Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar regarding Ramanan.”
According to Rafizi whom of late has been airing lots of PKR’s dirty linen in public, he disagreed with PKR “picking up” someone who had previously been implicated in a cheating charge in court.
“I (also) disagree with the special treatment that DS Anwar gave to Ramanan –the safe seat of Sungai Buloh, then as deputy minister (of entrepreneur development and cooperatives) and in a short period as a full minister (current HR ministership),” he revealed.
“The one with a court record for the offence of deception or scamming is Ramanan, not me. So it should be Ramanan who needs to explain, not me.”
Added Rafizi: “Ramanan should just focus on ampu (apple-polishing) PMX and refrain from interfering in matters that he doesn’t understand.” – Focus Malaysia
