Selangor rep files report over alleged desecration of Hindu symbol

 Sentosa assemblyman G Gunaraj has lodged a police report over a viral video involving the alleged desecration of the trident, a sacred symbol in Hinduism.

Gunaraj said the incident must be treated with urgency as it could trigger racial and religious tensions in the country, adding that Malaysia must go back to its foundation of mutual respect among people of different faiths.

“This is not a small matter. This is about the dignity of a religion and the harmony of the nation,” the PKR man said in a statement. “There can be no compromise in matters involving religious insults.”

When contacted, Klang Selatan police chief Lim Jit Huey confirmed the report and said statements would be taken from the relevant parties. - FMT
