Shouldn’t Firdaus Wong, Zamri Vinoth be operating independently rather than ‘parroting’ each other?

ONE cannot help but wonders if Muslim convert preachers Firdaus Wong Wai Hung and Zamri Vinoth are truly independent/apolitical (hence sincerely/obediently carrying out missionary work from the heart) or are politically affiliated on the course of their missionary work.

While the Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur-raised Firdaus who celebrated his 20th anniversary as a Muslim in September 2025 founded NGO Multiracial Revert Muslims (MRM), the Perlis-based Zamri who helms the Angkatan Skuad Mubaligh Malaysia is often linked regarded as a staunch disciple of controversial celebrity preacher Zakir Naik.

At a glance, both share a stark similarity in that they are loathed and demonised by non-Muslims/their own race as “peanut that forgets the skin” by being “more Malay than Malays” given not only their possessing big Malay Muslim fanbase but often being hyper critical of their own ancestral roots.

Besides that, they also have their own share of showdown with the authorities with Firdaus recently at loggerheads with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) over demolition action against the MRM-owned tent which has been conducting Islamic evangelism work for 14 years in the Bukit Bintang touristic spot.

But one can somehow doubt their “independent” status as both are seemingly endorsing each other as demonstrated by the incessant moral support extended by Firdaus to Zamri after the latter shared a 19-second video clip of two unidentified men on a motorcycle and four others on foot approaching a parked Jaguar, allegedly with intentions to attack.

Zamri had claimed on Facebook to be the driver of the car and accused the alleged assailants of acting due to “incitement and a false police report” against him by DAP lawmaker RSN Rayer.

Interestingly, Zamri’s defamatory claim which has prompted the Jelutong MP to lodge a police report has been seized upon by Firdaus who gave Rayer a proper “TANGKAP RAYER!!!!” (Nab Rayer) shelling on his own FB page.

Aside from defending his counterpart by claiming that Rayer should instead “be charged for incitement by lying that Zamri has threatened to demolish the Hindu temple in front of Bukit Mertajam Hospital”, Firdaus also took Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim Chee Keong to task for failing to expose Zamri’s attackers.

Recall that the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister has recently called on the police to foil a purported public protest code-named “Ops Terjah” which coincided with Saturday’s (March 7) annual prayers of Kuil Sri Dewa Maruthuvar Jada Muniswara which is located in front of the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.

Additionally, Firdaus also echoed Zamri in slamming DAP-backed Senator Dr Lingeshwaran R. Arunasalam by accusing him as a “crime enabler” after Zamri ticked off thre Dewan Negara member for deleting his FB post questioning why was Zamri in the temple’s vicinity when he “had no business there”.

Likewise, Firdaus’ impartiality towards Zamri is also questionable as evident by the former having criticised the People’s Progressive Party, (PPP) for siding land-grabbers who erected the so-called kuil haram by threatening to take to the streets.

“PPP, you are no longer relevant. My memory only remembers the name of your former president (Tan Sri) M. Kayveas. As for the current president, if it wasn’t for this news, I wouldn’t even know the PPP still exists,” he mocked.

“No need to threaten, PPP. Just do it … How many seats did you win in the last GE? Trying to be relevant again? How many people still remember PPP? Poor PPP 😬

Well, act independently or otherwise, both Firdaus and Zamri share the same course, hence who can blame them for seemingly being in cahoots or looking after each other’s back. –  Focus Malaysia
