
KUALA LUMPUR: A deputy chief executive officer of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) is expected to face another charge tomorrow at the Sessions Court in Shah Alam in a case investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MACC said the accused is scheduled to be charged at 8.30am.
A company director will also be charged in a separate but related case at the Sessions Court here at the same time.
Earlier today, Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), deputy chief executive officer (Registration and Business Services) Khuzairi Yahaya pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court to receiving RM50,000 from the son of former Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in 2018.
The 55-year-old claimed trial after the charge was read before judge Suzana Hussin.
He was alleged to have received the money from Muhammad Faisal Hamzah, whom he knew had dealings related to his official duties.
The offence was alleged to have taken place at the SSM@Sentral headquarters in KL Sentral in May 2018.
The charge, framed under Section 165 of the Penal Code, provides for a maximum two-year jail term or a fine, or both, upon conviction. - NST
