The PKR president also calls on the party machinery to prepare for the coming general election.

Party president Anwar Ibrahim, speaking at the PKR convention in Kota Bharu today, called on the party machinery to close ranks and prepare for the coming parliamentary and state assembly elections.
“We have to prepare from now for the general election. We must work instead of arguing over trivial matters and refusing to think about the problems we face,” Bernama reported him as saying today.
Anwar also criticised party leaders for being enthusiastic and vocal only when campaigning for office, but becoming lax in carrying out their duties or attending meetings after winning.
“Anyone who feels tired, let me know. Just ask for leave. This party belongs to the people and to those who want to work and fight for them,” he said.
Anwar said allocations would be channelled to branches based on their performance, with priority given to those with active and growing memberships.
“We will not give allocations to branches that do not increase their membership or carry out activities,” he said.
Anwar had similarly warned on Monday, at a PKR convention in Terengganu, that the party would only consider contesting seats in areas where it has strong machinery, active membership and consistent programmes.
He said PKR’s leadership would reject proposals from weak divisions, even if they came with recommendations. - FMT
