Man gets 30 years’ jail, 18 strokes for raping stepdaughter

 A 53-year-old man was sentenced by the sessions court here to 30 years’ imprisonment and 18 strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Judge Zulkipli Abdullah meted out the sentence after the man admitted to six charges under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code.

The court imposed 10 years’ jail and six strokes of the cane for each of two charges, with all sentences ordered to run concurrently from the date of arrest on April 6.

According to the first to third charges, the man committed the offences at a house in Tanah Merah between midnight and 4am on March 31, Nov 12 and Dec 5, 2025.

On the fourth to sixth charges, he was charged with having sexual intercourse with the same victim at the same location at 1am on March 27, 28 and 30, 2026.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Aiysha Na’ilah Harizan prosecuted the case, while the man was unrepresented. - FMT
