Pejuang has urged the authorities to investigate claims made by Sofia Rini Buyong, who is an MACC witness in the corruption cases involving businessperson Albert Tei and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin.
In a new video clip that has surfaced, Sofia mentions the names “Farhash” and “Anwar”. Pejuang information chief Rafique Rashid Ali believed these refer to the prime minister and his former aide-turned-corporate figure, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
“Isn’t Sofia a key witness in the case involving Shamsul? That would mean MACC and the attorney-general trust her account.
“The MACC, police, and the Home Ministry have no other choice. Farhash and Anwar must be investigated.
“The MACC must issue a notice under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009 in the names of Farhash and Anwar. Both of them must declare their assets,” Rafique added.
Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009 empowers the commission to compel individuals to declare their assets (Section 36[1]) and criminalises the failure to do so, or providing false information (Section 36[2]). Failure to comply is an offence punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of up to RM100,000.

Yesterday, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who posted the new video clip on his Facebook page, also called for answers, saying the allegations were serious.
Malaysiakini has contacted Sofia, Farhash, and the Prime Minister’s Office for comment, and is withholding details of the claims raised in the video pending their responses.
The latest clip appears to be from the same conversation she had with Tei, of which two videos were released last November.
After the videos were published, Sofia, a businessperson, denied being a proxy to Shamsul, whom Tei claimed he allegedly spent RM629,000 on after being assured that he could recoup money channelled to politicians in Sabah.
While she admitted to meeting Tei, Sofia accused him of spreading lies and slander against her.
“I stress here that I’m not a proxy to Shamsul. And I must clarify that I’ve never met or had any discussions with PMX (Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim) with regard to the allegations made by Albert,” Sofia said. - Mkini
