JASIN: Police are tracking down a motorcyclist who damaged a car and injured its driver in Selandar last month, following a viral video of the road rage incident.
Jasin police chief Superintendent Lee Robert said the incident occurred on the evening of March 26.
Investigations revealed the victim noticed a motorcyclist riding suspiciously behind his car, appearing to lose control of the machine.
"When the suspect overtook him on the right, the victim rolled down his window to speak to the rider.
"This sparked an argument, leading the rider to turn back towards the car," Lee said in a statement.
The suspect kicked the driver's side door and struck the door and window with his helmet.
"When the complainant got out of the vehicle, he was hit on the right arm with the helmet.
"The victim's wife, who was in the car with their children, managed to record the incident. However, the footage is not very clear as the family was in a state of panic," he said.
Lee added that while the suspect's face is visible in the recording, facial recognition checks have yet to yield a match.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 427 for mischief, punishable by jail terms, fines, or both.
Those with information are urged to contact investigating officer Sergeant Ainul Shahirah Shaharuddin at 012-4671531 or 06-5292222 (ext 378). - NST
