The MACC is giving researcher James Chai two weeks to come back to Malaysia to assist with a probe into a RM1.1 billion government deal with British semiconductor giant Arm Holdings.
The graft buster, who put out a wanted notice for Chai last month, said it had already granted him an extension until March 31 due to his work commitments and travel costs, but he still did not show up.
"Accordingly, MACC issued a letter today requiring him to attend within two weeks, and has also expressed its willingness to bear the cost of his return flight to Malaysia to assist with the investigation.
"Should he continue to fail to attend after being granted two extensions, the commission will consider seeking cooperation through international channels, including Interpol or foreign enforcement agencies, to locate him and ensure his attendance," the MACC said in a statement.
The MACC is investigating allegations that former economy minister Rafizi Ramli had rushed through the RM1.1 billion government deal with Arm.
Chai was Rafizi's aide at the time of the deal and had worked for Arm temporarily during a transition period after the PKR leader quit as minister.

Both Chai and Rafizi have denied wrongdoing, with the researcher saying he mainly created presentation slides while the ex-minister said the MACC should question Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, whom he said had a hand in approving the deal.
MACC in its statement today said it had questioned 17 witnesses thus far, including from the Economy Ministry and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority - with plans to question eight others, including several who are also overseas.
The agency said it had also obtained key documents, including agreements and supporting materials for its probe. - FMT
