Toddlers recorded torturing a cat with rope and slippers; serial killers in the making?

THERE IS this feeling of abject horror when we witness another fellow human being torturing a helpless animal.

Deep within us, there arises this thought—how does one derive pleasure from the suffering of another?

Perhaps this is a question best directed to a psychopath. Either that or we can ask the two toddlers caught in this video, torturing and dragging a poor cat around with a rope.

Note that the video can be found at: https://x.com/update11111/status/2038965035335336003?s=20

The video which was posted on X by netizen @update11111 has since garnered over 442 shares and 39 comments.

Some netizens pointed towards the lack of parental monitoring as the cause of the problem.

Others even blamed the person who recorded the video for not intervening to stop the torture.

In the video, viewers could even hear the video recorder laughing and conversing with another individual as though it was completely alright.

Netizen @aqba89 further raised a vital point, that these kids could turn into killers one day if they were allowed to be torturers when young.

“Many famous serial killers in America started by killing animals such as cats and dogs when they were children,” pointed out @KyosukeShahir.

The brief post did not reveal if the cat survived the ordeal, but the message is clear. Malaysians need better awareness where animal welfare is concerned.

Considering that the actors in this video are children, their parents should be responsible for it too.

On another note, people will be shocked to know that torturing animals is one of the three factors identified in the Macdonald triad which is considered predictive of violent tendencies.

The triad was first proposed by psychiatrist J. M. Macdonald in “The Threat to Kill”, a 1963 article in the American Journal of Psychiatry.

Expanding on the Macdonald triad, it says that cruelty to animals, obsession with fire-setting, and persistent bedwetting past the age of five is linked to violent behaviors, particularly homicidal behavior and sexually predatory behavior.

Are we seeing potential serial killers in action here, or is this a product of bad parenting? We can only hope that it is the latter. — Focus Malaysia
