WHAT VOTE-BUYING? 60 MOTORCYCLISTS WERE PARTY-VOLUNTEERS PAID RM20 EACH FOR PETROL EXPENSES – KIT SIANG FLAYS POLITICALLY BANKRUPT BN, DARES THEM TO REVEAL THEIR OWN MOBILIZATION COSTS

SIXTY Pakatan Harapan volunteers were each paid RM20 as reimbursement for their expenses in travelling to support the party and its candidate for the Cameron Highlands by-election on nomination day yesterday, said DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
The Iskandar Puteri MP said today PH was not involved in any vote-buying exercise, as claimed by Barisan Nasional and social media critics.
He added that the assistant to the Jelai PH operations chief, Arvind Bharet, had said that the images that surfaced on social media actually showed party volunteers being reimbursed for their expenses.
“We are not afraid of the truth as no vote-buying was involved,”   said Lim in a statement.

He was referring to social media posts of images showing money being handed out to people in Pakatan Harapan emblazoned T-shirts.
BN leaders have since lodged police reports alleging that vote-buying was involved.
Lim also said that the woman seen handing out cash in the series of photos was Vanessa, a Dusun-Punjabi from Kota Kinabalu who has been an Impian Malaysia volunteer since 2014.
He said she was in charge of the Orang Asli motorcyclists who came out from various villages for nomination day in Tanah Rata yesterday.
“There were 60 motorcyclists and she reimbursed them RM20 per motorcyclist.
“There were five cars and four buses of Orang Asli but they were not her responsibility,” he said.
Lim also challenged BN to give a full public account of how many people it had mobilised for nomination day.
He also urged BN to reveal its total expenditure as well as answer all queries on its finances during the by-election.
Arvind had also said earlier today that the reimbursement would be declared as part of election expenses by the pact’s by-election candidate, M. Manogaran.
