Covid-19: 208 new cases, 5 deaths, 122 recoveries

CORONAVIRUS | There are now 3,116 cases of Covid-19 in the country with 208 new infections recorded as of noon today, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
This is the second time the number of new cases has exceeded 200 and is the second-highest increase to date.
The death toll, meanwhile, has climbed to 50, with five new deaths recorded.
The number of patients in ICUs is 105, three more than yesterday.
Of these 105 patients, 54 are on ventilators, 12 less than yesterday.
To date 1,407 of those who tested positive for the virus are from the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster.
Some 10,000 others who attended the gathering late last month have tested negative, while the results for 3,973 are still pending.
Noor Hisham said the ministry estimates that 3,400 others have yet to be screened.
On a positive note, 122 people have recovered and were discharged today, the highest number of recoveries per day to date.
This brings the total number of recoveries to 767 or 24.6 percent of the total cases.
The five new deaths are as follows:
Patient 2,909 (46th death)
A 37-year-old Malaysian man with a history of chronic disease and low immunity. He was treated at the Sultan Aminah Hospital, Johor on March 26. He died on March 31 at 11.10pm.
Patient 2,910 (47th death)
A 78-year-old Malaysian man with a history of hypertension and gout. He was treated at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, Johor on March 17. He died on March 29 at 7.10pm.
Patient 2,572 (48th death)
A 85-year-old Malaysian man with a history of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. He was treated at the Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Johor on March 29. He died at 8.01am this morning.
Patient 1,273 (49th death)
A 61-year-old Malaysian man. He was in close contact with Patient 2,107. He had been treated at the Sarawak General Hospital on March 20. He died at 8.36pm yesterday.
Patient 1,767 (50th death)
A 69-year-old Malaysian man. He was treated at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Negeri Sembilan on March 22. He died at 2.20pm today.
