Scam Alert: Don't give banking password to 'LHDN'

Malaysiakini

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) is warning the public of a scam to take advantage of the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) aid to Malaysians under the government's stimulus package.
According to one scam message Malaysiakini sighted, an SMS claiming to be from IRB using its Malay acronym "LHDN" asked users to reply with their bank ID and online password.
The fake SMS was sent using a regular mobile number.
The IRB said it would not ask for banking or personal details via SMS.
"Make sure the SMS (about BPN) that you received is from the number 62000 or 63833 only," the board said in a Facebook message this afternoon.
The BPN is a RM10 billion aid package to help the B40 and M40 face the Covid-19 crisis.
The first payout would be made at the end of April. - Mkini
