A group of 12 men were arrested by the police yesterday for holding a drug party in a condominium at Jalan Ang Seng, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
The individuals, who are aged between 17 and 33 years old, were arrested in a raid at 1.10am by a team of police from the IPD Brickfields criminal investigations department.
Brickfields OCPD Zairulnizam Mohd Zainuddin said they also confiscated four plastic packets filled with what is believed to be 9.5 grams of ganja.
“Early investigations found that one of the suspects arrested had rented the condominium through a phone call and made the payment of RM178 for one night through online banking.
“The confiscated drugs were also brought by one of the suspects, who bought it from another Indian man at the price of RM10 per packet.
“The participants were invited through WhatsApp and phone calls,” Zairulnizam said, adding that early urine tests found seven of them to be positive for drugs.
All suspects who were arrested were remanded for four days starting April 19 to April 22.
This case is being investigated under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
Every suspect has also been fined RM1,000 for flouting the movement control order (MCO).
Meanwhile, Zairulnizam thanked the public for tipping them off on the drug party.
“The Brickfields police also advise the public not to get involved in any criminal activity which violates the MCO because strict action based on the law will be taken against those who do so,” he said. - Mkini
