PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has been appointed as special envoy to the Middle East with ministerial rank.
"Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin agreed to appoint Hadi as special envoy to the Middle East with ministerial status," said Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement today.
Hadi was not appointed as minister in Muhyiddin's cabinet despite his position in the Islamic party.
Listing Hadi's credentials, the PMO noted that Hadi was theformer International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) vice president.
He was also the Terengganu Menteri Besar between 1999 and 2004.
