Health DG to brief PM on MCO tomorrow

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah will brief Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on the status of the Covid-19 outbreak tomorrow morning.
"After the briefing, the prime minister will make the announcement on what needs to be done," he said, stopping short of stating a time.
To prepare for the briefing, Noor Hisham said he will be reviewing all data and case projection models at 6pm this evening to determine the effectiveness of the movement control order (MCO) thus far.
He shared yesterday that such data will inform the ministry’s advice and list of options for Muhyiddin and his cabinet.
The MCO was originally from March 18 to March 31.
It was later extended to April 14.
Detailed data for better picture
Among the data points that Noor Hisham will consider is the number of safe and danger zones in the country.
He said such zones were being determined based on state, district (daerah) and locality (mukim) level data.
Rather than look at cumulative cases, the ministry is monitoring the number of new cases recorded in these areas over the past two weeks.
By looking at more detailed data, he explained that the ministry could better assess the status of the outbreak.
“What we are also doing is looking at cases over a two-week time period.
“Like if there have been no new cases within two weeks in an area - down to the state, district or locality level.
“This will give us a more accurate picture of which areas are green or red zones. We are studying this as well as the case distribution in green, orange and red zones at a locality level,” he explained during the ministry’s daily Covid-19 briefing.
Areas are colour coded based on the number of cases recorded there.
Red zones mean an area has recorded 41 or more cases. Orange zones have between 20 to 40 cases. Yellow zones have between 1 to 19 cases while green zones have zero cases. - Mkini
