Kelantan announces one-off cash aid to frontliners, civil servants and political appointees

CORONAVIRUS | The Kelantan government has announced one-off monetary aid to state civil servants, political appointees as well as frontliners dealing with the coronavirus outbreak.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob (photo, above) said the aid comprised RM500 payment to each civil servant and RM250 to each political appointee under the state government.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 frontline staff under the state will receive a “one-off” payment of RM300.
“The frontline staff under the state government include local council enforcement officers, penghulu and penggawa (headmen), and labourers with the Land and District Office.
“The aid will be given in the near future,” he said in a press conference today following the state exco meeting at his official residence in Kota Bharu.
He added that the state was allocating RM29 million for the one-off payments to help people affected by the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the state will also exempt rent payments for two months, beginning April on premises belonging to local councils and statutory bodies.
“The rental will be borne by the state government, we will pay the rents for the tenants to the premise owners.
“This involves premises owned by district councils, PMBK (Kelantan Menteri Besar Corporation), PKINK (Kelantan State Economic Development Corporation) and the likes,” added the menteri besar, who is also Pasir Pekan assemblyperson. - Mkini
