MB confirms Kelantan to follow Putrajaya's lead with no Ramadan bazaars

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob today confirmed that there will be no Ramadan bazaars in the state this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ahmad made the announcement after chairing the state executive council meeting today.
He said the decision considered the fact that the Covid-19 situation was still a concern.
"The decision is in line with the federal government's decision not to have Ramadan bazaars this year.
"Considering the situation, we decided to proceed as guided by the federal government," he told journalists at his official residence in Kota Bharu today.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri, who is overseeing the movement control order (MCO), had said that Ramadan bazaars will not be allowed if the partial lockdown is extended.
He said if the MCO ends before the end of Ramadan, then the government may allow Ramadan bazaars on the condition that they are able to comply with the Health Ministry's standard operating procedures.
The MCO was supposed to end on March 31 but was extended until April 14.
Under the MCO, all non-essential businesses and services must close while people are only allowed to leave their homes for approved reasons.
Gatherings are banned and foreigners are also not allowed into the country while Malaysians cannot leave. - Mkini
