CORONAVIRUS | A team of eight medical experts from China's Guandong arrived in KL at noon today to lend their expertise in helping combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The team is here at the invitation of the Malaysian Government and was greeted by representatives of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and China's Ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian.
"The expert team is organised by the National Health Commission of China and made up of eight individuals selected by the health commission of Guangdong Province.
"They are specialised in different fields such as respiratory, intensive care, psychiatry, infectious diseases, data analysis, virology and traditional Chinese medicine," said Bai Tian in a statement posted on the China Embassy in Malaysia Facebook page.
He said that some of the experts had joined the fight against Covid-19 in Hubei Province, the epicentre of the disease.
"The team will be in Malaysia for tentatively two weeks, during which they will also make a trip to East Malaysia to share their expertise," he added saying that the arrival of this team symbolized the great friendship between Malaysia and China.
He also thanked the Malaysian government and various entities for provided support to China in combating the pandemic.
“MOH Malaysia and medical staff from all over Malaysia are set to benefit through these exchanges. We have full confidence in Malaysia ’s fight against Covid-19 and we hope Malaysia will win the fight very soon.
The team was headed by Dr Li Jun, promised that his team would make full use of its time in Malaysia and do what it can to assist Malaysia in fighting Covid-19 together”. - Mkini
