The cabinet may be largely quiet but they are hard at work, assured Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today.
He said this when asked about allegations that ministers were not at work during the current movement control order.
Muhyiddin explained that for the present, he had specified that only two ministers address the public and they were Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on government initiatives and health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on health updates.
"This is so there are not too many spokespersons [..]. but this doesn't mean the ministers are not working.
"They don't issue many statements so people say 'the ministers are not working' but they are and they're doing it without pay for two months," he said.
The cabinet had announced in late March that its members would give up two month's salary to help bolster the government's Covid-19 fund.
Muhyiddin also said that ministers and senior government officers are working to ensure that when the MCO ends, they are not swamped with a mountain of a backlog.
