Police inspector to return to court to face rape charges

Police inspector Hazrul Hizham Ghazali as he was brought to the Klang Sessions Court yesterday.
PETALING JAYA: A police inspector who was charged yesterday with human trafficking involving two Mongolian women will return to court today to face rape charges.
Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed said the Attorney General’s Office has instructed that the officer be charged with rape under Section 376(2)(f) of the Penal Code.
The section deals with the crime of rape by using one’s position of authority over the victim.
Yesterday, the Klang Sessions Court charged Hazrul Hizham Ghazali from the Petaling Jaya police headquarters with trafficking for sex under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act, over the exploitation of two Mongolian women aged between 20 and 36 years old.
The alleged offence took place between April 10 and 11 at a hotel in Petaling Jaya.
Police had investigated him for both human trafficking and rape.
Huzir today said the action against the inspector showed the police force does not practise favouritism on its men.
“Unfortunately, there are some among the society and groups who appear to question the police force’s integrity in investigating its officers,” said Huzir.
Yesterday, Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said Hazrul would face six charges of raping the first victim, and two charges of raping the second victim. - FMT
