Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has suggested to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to consider giving positions in the government administration to four Sabah Umno leaders.
In a letter dated April 16 sighted by Malaysiakini, Zahid wrote to Muhyiddin to consider appointing Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin to be the Sabah Federal Development Department chairperson.
An Umno leader, who declined to reveal his identity, confirmed the validity of the letter entitled "Sabah Umno's proposal and claim".
Bung, who is Kinabatangan MP, is facing trial after he was slapped with three corruption charges totalling RM2.8 million.
Bung allegedly received the money in his capacity as Felcra non-executive chairperson in June 2015.
Zahid also suggested for Kimanis MP Mohamad Alamin to be made a deputy minister to represent the Sabah Umno chapter.
Mohamad Alamin became an MP this February after defeating Warisan candidate Karim Bujang in the by-election.
Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk MP, also requested for Tuaran division chief Abdul Rahman Dahlan to be appointed as a member of the Dewan Negara, and for the Sabah Umno deputy chairperson Yakubah Khan to be appointed as Labuan Port Authority (LPA) chairperson.
The position is vacant after Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Fong Hin was removed from LPA effective April 1.
Rahman Dahlan was a minister in the Prime Minister's Department during the BN government era under the helm of Najib Abdul Razak.
In the letter, Zahid said he relayed the suggestions from Sabah Umno after discussing with the state party leadership. - Mkini
