Burglars take off with RM270k cash after breaking into ATM

 

KLANG: Masked men equipped with an oxy-acetylene gas cutter broke into an ATM at Taman Meru Indah here and escaped with over RM270,000 in cash.

The ATM was placed in a convenience store there and the several RM100 notes were strewn in front of the premise.

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh said the incident occurred around 5.15am on Monday (Dec 14).

"The investigation revealed that between four to five masked men were involved based on CCTV footage there.They broke open the main door to the premises and used what we believe to be an oxy-acetylene gas cutter to cut open the ATM there," she said in a statement on Monday.

She said the suspects sprayed paint on the CCTV inside the premises to avoid their acts being captured on camera.

"We believe they took at least 30 to 40mins to cut open the ATM. An estimated RM270,000 in cash was taken," she said.
