SHAH ALAM: Police have rubbished claims that an enhanced movement control order (MCO) would be declared effective Dec 12.
In a statement on Saturday (Dec 12), Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin said police detected the fake news which was going viral on social media.
"The post was made to look like a still image taken from a local news broadcast with the words; EMCO in Selangor immediately, beginning Dec 12 and all Selangor entry and exit points.
"The post is completely false, and as such, the public is advised to keep calm and not so easily believe such posts which were spread by irresponsible parties," he said.
He added that the public must not share such articles which are unverified.
"Such actions can cause anxiousness among the public and can threaten public order," he said. - Star
