Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's claims of alleged enticements or threats made against PKR MPs to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) is the sign of a desperate man, said Bersatu supreme council member Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Zuraida, who is the housing and local government minister, claimed Anwar is in denial over the real reasons behind the departure of PKR MPs to pledge support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's administration.
"I think Anwar's claims are claims of a desperate man.
"Someone who is misguided after his refusal to accept the fact that the defecting lawmakers realised weaknesses that he himself revealed when he claimed to have the numbers but turns out to be untrue," said Zuraida, a former PKR Women wing chief.
"Their trust in Anwar has faded and that made them think about changing their direction towards support for PN, based on achievements in managing the Covid-19 pandemic.
"So, Datuk Seri Anwar, don't need to act in desperation by making this and that accusations," Zuraida said at a press conference after a Sepang Municipal Council visit to an apartment complex in Puchong.
She said this in response to Anwar's remarks on Tuesday, following a meeting with PKR MPs in Petaling Jaya.
Anwar said at least four other MPs, aside from Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail, revealed they were allegedly approached with offers to switch sides.
As a result, Anwar said he would be seeking a meeting with MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki to initiate a probe over the matter. - Mkini
