PETALING JAYA: World No. 30 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah capped off a superb week at the Swiss Open by being crowned the first-ever Malaysian women's doubles champions in the tournament's 66-year history on Sunday (March 7).
Pearly-Thinaah put up a scintillating performance to blow away the more illustrious Stoeva sisters - Gabriela and Stefani - the world No. 14, in a convincing 21-19,21-12 victory at the St Jakobshalle in Basel.
Pearly-Thinaah pocketed a well-deserved US$11,060 (RM45,000) winners' purse for their effort. - Star
