There is no reason for Umno to give PAS an ultimatum to choose whether to support Bersatu within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition or otherwise, said Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.
Ahmad said Umno and PAS had formed a cooperative relationship earlier through Muafakat Nasional.
“It is within PAS’ rights to be with Bersatu and it has nothing to do with Umno’s wishes to strengthen its relationship with PAS.
“The relationship between PAS and Umno had started earlier before the relationship between PAS and Bersatu in PN.
“So, there is no reason we’d need to give an ultimatum,” he said when met at Umno’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Earlier tonight, Umno and PAS held a meeting to discuss matters relating to Muafakat.
