PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has removed his Feb 9 Facebook post after a defamation suit was filed against him by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Yes, it was removed yesterday,” he told FMT.
This comes after the High Court granted Muhyiddin an interim injunction to restrain Puad from making any statement over an alleged defamatory posting on March 1.
The court also fixed March 12 for the inter partes hearing of the interim injunction.
On Feb 16, Muhyiddin sent a legal notice to Puad demanding a public apology and compensation of RM10 million for allegedly defaming him.
Among other things, he demanded that Puad unequivocally remove a Feb 9 posting on his Facebook page under the name “Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi” relating to Covid-19 quarantine.
The Prime Minister’s Office had denied a claim by Puad that a three-day quarantine order had been gazetted for ministers returning from official trips abroad solely because the prime minister did not want to be quarantined after returning from his official visit to Indonesia. - FMT
