Brunei maintains border closure with Malaysia for another two weeks as country goes 352 days without local Covid-19 case

 

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 24 (Xinhua): Brunei's Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has announced that the temporary suspension of cross-border activities between Brunei and Malaysia will be extended for another two weeks from April 23 to May 7, 2021.

The temporary suspension on entry of foreign nationals via land and sea ports, including transits through Brunei, is extended by 14 more days until May 7, except for entry and transit travels that have been granted approval by the government.

Brunei shares land and sea borders with Malaysia.

Temporary suspension on the collection and delivery of private goods and temporary suspension on commuters via land and sea for work are also extended by 14 days until May 7.

Brunei reported one more recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic on Friday, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 211.

No more confirmed Covid-19 cases were recorded, with the national tally unchanged at 223.

There are nine active cases still being treated at the National Isolation Centre.

The country has recorded 352 days without local Covid-19 infection cases since May 6, 2020 and only three deaths were reported from Covid-19 so far. - Xinhua
