Cops tracking down rubber pipe assailants in viral video

Police said they had identified the men seen in the viral video showing two men being beaten with a rubber hose.

PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down the individuals seen assaulting two men with a rubber pipe in a 54-second closed circuit television video clip, which went viral recently.

The video showed the victims getting assaulted by two others. Six other men in the video watched without interfering.

Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said a police report was lodged by the Criminal Investigation Department at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters to investigate the source of the video.

He said investigations would be carried out under Section 324 and 342 of the Penal Code.

Speaking to The Star, he said the incident was believed to have occurred at a vape shop in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. He said police had already identified the suspects.

He urged those involved to come forward willingly.

“The public is advised not to share or spread the video on social media to avoid public distress,” he said.

Zainal urged those with information to contact Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-26002222, the KL police hotline at 03-21159999, or the nearest police station. - FMT
