KOTA KINABALU: Former Perak menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu says he will return as the head of the state government although he was ousted in a confidence vote in the Perak state assembly last December.
Sabah is the only state led by a PPBM leader after the Perak MB was made to resign.
“Like in the ‘Terminator’ film, I’ll be back,” Ahmad Faizal, who is also PPBM deputy president said in his speech at PPBM Sabah’s two-year anniversary event in Kota Kinabalu today.
Meanwhile, Faizal also said the argument thrown around by critics on PPBM being a new party that is not fit to govern was no longer relevant.
He said that although PPBM was new, its success and achievements at the federal level and in states like Sabah cannot be denied.
“Apparently (PPBM) is a party that is only a year old – we cannot lead but must be led. This argument is outdated and inaccurate because what is important is our presence and whether we are accepted wholeheartedly by the rakyat. There is no need (for us) to get offended by this mockery,” he said.
Elaborating further, he said PPBM Sabah has managed extraordinary achievements although the state wing has just turned two years old today.
He said the success was the result of them joining forces with other parties including their allies in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.
“Even though, it (PPBM Sabah) has only been around for two years, the impact and effects as well as Sabahans’ positive reception towards the party is something extraordinary. Its achievements have exceeded expectations.
“This success did not happen suddenly or by coincidence, it was all because of the effort and hard work by PPBM Sabah’s machinery,” he said. - FMT
