KUCHING: Perikatan Nasional (PN) needs the support of people of all races and religions amidst its struggle to save the country.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said its main focus now was to strengthen the ruling coalition to obtain as much support as possible.
"The most important thing in our (Perikatan Nasional's) struggle is to save the country. We need the support of everyone for this endeavour. This is because PN is a party which represents all races and religions," he told reporters after a visit to an upgrading project at the Sarawak General Hospital here today.
Muhyiddin was asked to comment on Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's statement today in which the latter invited all Muslims groups to throw their support behind PN and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
Hadi had described PN and Bersatu as entities which were helmed by Muslim leaders with integrity.
Hadi had also expressed his readiness to work with non-Muslims who were not extreme in nature. Hadi said he would not waste any time to forge such forms of cooperation for the sake of saving the country.
"We (PN) and Pas have forged a cooperation. They (Pas) are co-founders of PN.
"What (Hadi) said is necessary for us to gain support," said Muhyiddin, adding that he respected Hadi's statement about the matter. - NST
