PR1MA promises to complete projects, special invite for JB project

Affordable housing corporation Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) today said it remains committed to complete all its projects on schedule.

This followed criticism by Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir who hit out at the government agency for hosting a breaking fast feast amidst complaints over late delivery of PR1MA homes.

In a statement today, PR1MA cited an example of a project in Akmal's constituency - Residensi Tebrau - which will be completed by the end of this month, albeit after some delays.

Residensi Tebrau, comprising 1,284 units ranging from 757 sq feet to 1,053 sq feet, was supposed to be completed in February 2020.

"PR1MA will invite interested parties in Johor Bahru when the key handover ceremony is held in May," said the agency.

Meanwhile, PR1MA stressed that no projects have been sidelined by the company and every project will be treated equally.

Akmal had criticised PR1MA over the feast on April 15 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Launched in 2011 by then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, it was touted as an affordable housing solution targeted at the middle-income group.

The scheme adopted a ballot system and the goal was to build 500,000 homes by 2020.

However, the scheme has been plagued by the cancellation of projects and late delivery. Parliament was told last year that RM172 million in public funds had to be spent on cancelled PR1MA projects. - Mkini
