Sharing CEO’s FB posts is to spread info quickly, says Socso

PETALING JAYA: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) has clarified that the memo asking all staff to share the chief executive officer’s official Facebook page posts was an effort to disseminate as quickly as possible information on the various incentives and benefits offered by the agency.

Socso said the staff, being the pillars of the agency, have been given the mandate to share Facebook postings made by CEO Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.

“The CEO’s social media account is fully owned and managed by Socso, and its content only involves official Socso information and activities,” it said in a statement today.

The organisation said it was given the responsibility by the government to implement several important assistance incentives to the public, especially to employers and employees to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, it said this social media move would ensure information reaches the people fast, adding that various approaches to social media, print and electronic media have been undertaken.

“This sharing approach was taken so that information on various incentives and benefits offered by the agency is accurate, clear and authentic.

Socso was responding to an FMT report earlier today saying that the performance evaluation of Socso employees would now take into account the number of times they have “shared” posts from its CEO’s official Facebook page.

The memo stated that these shares were categorised under “activities and contributions outside official duties”, with a 5% weightage of the overall grading system.

Since March 1, Socso staff have been given specific marks for this as part of their performance evaluation. They were informed of this in a memo sent by Azman. - FMT
