PUTRAJAYA: The number of items listed under the Maximum Price of the Festival Season (SHMMP) Hari Raya Puasa 2021 scheme will be increased from 12 to 33 types, said Minister of Home Affairs and User Affairs, Alexander Nanta Linggi
He said the 12 items announced before this were only the first rank.
"We will be adding more. Possibility of a total of 32 or 33 items.
"Indeed, more than 30 items are definitely known, including those (already) common," he said at a media session during a visit and assembly of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's mandate to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and User Issues (KPDNHEP).
On April 19, KPDNHEP announced 12 types of items under SHMMP 2021 starting last April 21.
Alexander said the list of items announced in the SHMMP included chicken, chicken eggs, meat, as well as seafood such as tuna, slate, mackerel and moult.
Meanwhile, Alexander is concerned about all merchants and users, because of that he is not in a hurry to announce the price of the goods control so that it is fair to all.
On April 21, the former minister of agriculture and agriculture, Salahuddin Ayub, urged the kingdom to increase the number of SHMMP Hari Raya Puasa 2021 items from 12 to 30 types.
Salahuddin said that the list for strengthening the control of escorted goods needed to be made two weeks before and after the celebration so that it would not be a burden to the users, traders and suppliers.
Prior to this, KPDNHEP held several engagement sessions with the owners of the largest chicken farms, as well as talks with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), to allow standard chicken pricing to be implemented.
As a result, the standard chicken price was set at RM7.90 below the 2021 SHMMP Hari Raya Puasa, which starts today until May 20, compared to RM7.50 at the 2020 SHMMP Hari Raya Puasa. - FMT
