Umno's Shahrir Abdul Samad has likened Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah to someone who has a Master's degree in party hopping.
"Saifuddin is an expert in matters related to BN, Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional.
"If there was academic qualification, he would have a Masters' degree in party hopping.
"Starting in Umno-BN, he then went to PKR-Harapan then Bersatu-PN. If he hopped another time, he could get a PhD," Shahrir said in a statement.
He was responding to Saifuddin's evaluation of BN and Harapan's weaknesses and how PN was learning from them.
Saifuddin had remarked that Umno was dominant in BN, something that PN differs from, while Harapan lacked the support of the majority demography.
Shahrir, who is also the Johor Bahru Umno chief, said while Umno was indeed dominant in BN and held major positions, he maintained that the coalition made decisions based on consensus.
He said the principle is only exempted if it relates to issues of discipline and law.
"So, even if he has a Master's degree in party hopping, he should first scrutinise the BN constitution before speaking," said the former Johor Bahru MP.
Saifuddin, who is the Indera Mahkota MP, had defected to Bersatu from PKR.
He served as the foreign minister under the Harapan government. Prior to that, he was the deputy higher education minister under the BN government. - Mkini
