PUTRAJAYA: Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will hold a press conference together with Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah at 5pm today.
This is the second time the two government spokesmen for non-health and health matters are holding a press conference together.
The press conference follows the decision by the government to tighten restrictions on social activities and some economic sectors in an effort to curb the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.
A statement by the Prime Minister's Office issued shortly after the special National Security Council: Covid-19 meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday said Ismail Sabri, who is also the Senior Defence Minister, is expected to announce details on the tighter restrictions of the current Movement Control Order (MCO 3.0) today.
For the third day in a row yesterday, Malaysia's daily Covid-19 cases surpassed the 6,000-mark after the Health Ministry detected 6,493 new infections. - NST
