Prosperity action council holds first meeting

The government's Common Prosperity Action Council (MTKB) chaired by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin held its first meeting yesterday.

"The Majlis Tindakan Kemakmuran Bersama's role is to determine the policy and strategy for the implementation of the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030.

"This includes setting targets, macro indicators and KPIs for important sectors in the development of the country to be framed in an inclusive and comprehensive way to achieve the objectives of the SPV," said the Prime Minister's Office in a statement today.

The MTKB's membership consists of 21 ministers, four heads of departments, two government-linked investment company (GLIC) heads and three from the chambers of commerce representing Malays, Chinese and Indians as well as figures from economic, educational and social sectors, it said.

Among them include economist Sulaiman Mahboob, Khazanah Nasional Bhd's former managing director Azman Mokhtar, UPM vice-chancellor Dr Aini Ideris, USM vice-chancellor Asma Ismail, Suhakam's Madeline Berma and UKM's Denison Jayasooria.

Also created was the Joint Prosperity Executive Committee (JEKB) chaired by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, said the PMO.

It added that the Shared Prosperity Delivery Unit (Sepadu) of the Prime Minister's Department will act as the secretariat of the MTKB. - Mkini
