KJ: People sent to closed PPVs on weekend due to 'manual error'

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said incidents of people being sent to certain Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) on weekends only to find that they are closed were due to "manual errors".

“This is due to manual error. We are investigating where but there are manual uploads of appointments and when that happens, they do not look at the dates the PPV are open.

“Anyway, this will be resolved because most PPVs will be operating seven days a week soon,” Khairy said.

He was speaking at a joint weekly press conference with Health Minister Dr Adham Baba on the status of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP). The press conference was held in Putrajaya and broadcasted online.

Khairy did not reveal more details about when or which PPVs will soon be open seven days a week.

He also advised those who are still receiving vaccination appointments at PPVs far away from their address, despite ensuring they put in the correct address, to refer to the MySejahtera helpdesk.

“The easiest way to resolve this is by using the interactive helpdesk on MySejahtera.

“We will make adjustments to the PPV locations. That is the quickest fix right now. We will then give you another appointment as soon as possible at your nearest PPV,” Khairy said.

This issue was first highlighted towards the end of May, where people were receiving vaccination appointments in other states or districts.

Khairy had said this was caused by an issue with the Google Maps API, explaining that when people key in their neighbourhoods, the map lists out all neighbourhoods with the same name and some users may have chosen the wrong entry.

At the time, he had advised MySejahtera users to update their address field and confirm their state and postcode when registering for the vaccine.

In an immediate response to Khairy’s explanation at that time, several individuals who experienced this issue insisted they had ensured their state and postcode were accurate. - Mkini
