Nine longhouses in Sungai Rassau, Batang Igan, Matu, Sarawak will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 19 to July 2, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the longhouses involved were Rumah Panjang Salim anak Unang, Rumah Panjang Judy anak Kudi, Rumah Panjang Mathew anak Merang, Rumah Panjang Danggang anak Ujang and Rumah Panjang Lait anak Ijang.

Also affected were Rumah Panjang Chandi anak Kilau, Rumah Panjang Putut anak Jugah, Rumah Panjang Sadin anak Jeli and Rumah Panjang Mador anak Rendah.

“A total of 84 residents have been screened and 48 tested positive, with the positivity rate at 57.14 percent. The Health Ministry (MOH) also found that there is a Covid-19 outbreak in these areas, with a high infectivity rate.

“The enforcement of the EMCO is aimed at facilitating early detection of positive cases so as to curb the spread of Covid-19 as quickly as possible,” he said in a statement on the MMCO today.

Ismail Sabri said the government also decided to extend the EMCO at the Wah Cens Plastic Industries & Rainbow Metal Sdn Bhd factory area and foreign workers hostel in Buloh Kasap, Segamat, Johor, for the same period.

Meanwhile, he said the EMCO in three localities in Sabah would be extended from June 19 to July 2, namely in the Semarak area in Tawau, Kampung Pengaraban (Kudat) and Taman Wawasan (Tawau).

He also said that the EMCO in Kampung Tanjung Aru Baru and Rumah Murah Kepayan in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah ended today as scheduled.

The EMCO in the Besut district in Terengganu; Taman Milenium and Kampung Jawa Kongsi 10 in Tawau, Sabah; as well as Rumah Panjang Sigah anak Lak, Sungai Baoh Burak, Dalat in Mukah, Sarawak would be lifted tomorrow as scheduled, he said.
